Artist Statement (Cup, egg, and fork)
Artist Statement:
1. My goals and intentions in this piece were to try and capture the proportions correctly along with the white and black merges in the photograph.
2. I accomplished these goals by taking extra time to study where the objects in the photo laid on the graph.
3. The thing that surprised me the most was how it feels to draw from studying an image rather than drawing from your head.
4. My most difficult challenge was creating an elipse on the cup since it was from a birds eye view, making it appear rather circular.
5. I met this challenge by using trial and error until I was happy with the shape, and during the process also shifted to right brain thinking, looking at values and shapes.
6. I think my drawing really "works" in the lights and shadows, where it gets a really graphic vibe.
7. Some things I learned were understanding how light and dark merges work, and how many values of white there are.
8. I learned a lot from alyssa k in her work of reflection on the table.
9. If I had a do-over I think I would try to make the fork a little larger.
10. I think the best thing about my work was the merges of light and dark through the plate and the background.
