Pumpkins (Artist Statement)
Artist Statement:
1. My goals in this piece were to focus on realism.
2. I accomplished this goal by focusing on how the pumpkins really looked instead of letting myself fall into "the beachball effect"
3. I was most surprised about how the moments of light on stems made the drawing stand out.
4. The difficult challenge I had to face was figuring out the size view placement on such a large piece of paper.
5. I met this challenge by trying to line everything up with a grid.
6. I switched to right brain thinking when I followed the shapes of the irregularly sized pumpkins.
7. My drawing really works on the stems where there is a moment of light brightening them up.
8. I learned that most things dont need to be super dramatic in lighting.
9. I learned a lot from Rosalie's pumpkins because I thought their SVP was really well planned out.
10. If I had a do-over I would probably adjust the SVP of a few pumpkins.
11.I think the best thing about my work is the placement of shadows and moments of light.
Nice artist statement. im glad you remembered some of the buzz phrases as well.
