Pumpkins (Artist Statement)

Image
Artist Statement: 1. My goals in this piece were to focus on realism. 2. I accomplished this goal by focusing on how the pumpkins really looked instead of letting myself fall into "the beachball effect" 3. My most difficult challenge was creating an elipse on the cup since it was from a birds eye view, making it appear rather circular. 5. I met this challenge by using trial and error until I was happy with the shape, and during the process also shifted to right brain thinking, looking at values and shapes. 6. I think my drawing really "works" in the lights and shadows, where it gets a really graphic vibe. 7. Some things I learned were understanding how light and dark merges work, and how many values of white there are. 8. I learned a lot from alyssa k in her work of refl...
